Georgia Fishing Report & Forecast

September 2009

Toccoa River (tailwater)

The Toccoa River is starting to pick up with Fall in the picture.  We've had good days and slow days which is normal for this time of year.  There has been some pretty good dry fly fishing casting terrestrial patterns, midges, small mayfly patterns.  Occaisionally caddisfly patterns have been in the mix as well.  The average size fish has been above average lately with the trout coming to the net with full stomachs and bright colors.  Angler traffic is starting to lighten a bit and will further decrease as we move farther into the fall and hunting season moves in.  All in all, we're looking forward to spending time on the Toccoa River this Fall.  It always brings good fishing with the cooler temperatures. Give us a call so we can put you on the trrout on your next float trip.

Private Water (Noontootla Creek)

Noontootla Creek Farms is running clear and water temperatures are staying cool enough to keep the fish active and happy.  We've been throwing lots of dry fly patterns and catching some dandy fish on top.  The dry fly action will start to fade a bit as we move into later September.  It's all good though, because we'll soon start getting our fall rains and the water levels will rise.  This will bring us some dynamite nymph and streamer fishing at Noontootla Creek Farms (NCF).  The fall is a great time to fish NCF and we generally hook into great numbers of fish.  Fall is also a great time to hook into a big brown trout as well.  Sometime in September we'll be adding Limestone rock to the stream.  This is really going to do wonders for the water quality, bug life, and other forage food on the stream.  The fish are sporting brilliant colors as usual and are becoming more active as we move closer to the Fall.  If your looking at tackling these giants give us a call and we'll be happy to guide you to the trophy of a lifetime.

Bass Fishing Reports

Lake Blue Ridge is starting to turn around and will become on fire as we move into October.  You can expect some dynamite topwater fishing for the Fall.  We catch big bass and good numbers this time of year.  We've been fishing Lake Chickamauga regularly and we're catching trophy smallmouth and lots of spotted bass and largemouth bass.  If you have not fished Lake Chickamuage we encourage you to give us a call so you can experience the unbelieveable bass fishing here.  Bass fishing on all of our other lakes will continue to get better as we move into the Fall.  The Fall is one of our favorite times to bass fish and we encourage all you bass anglers out there to give us a call for your next bass trip.  We'll be happy to guide you on the fly or with conventional gear.  They both work really well this time of year.
