Noontootla Creek Farms

Located in the Southern Appalachian Mountains of Northeast Georgia, Noontootla Creek Farms is a privately held farm consisting of over 1500 acres.  The farm has been in the family for multiple generations.  Noontootla Creek Farms started off as a farming operation and later added a private hunting club on the property due to the large population of deer and turkey.  In recent years, Noontootla Creek Farms has opened their grounds to the public and offers vacationers and local outdoorsmen many recreational outdoor activities.  Whether you’re a fly fishermen or a bird hunter Noontootla Creek Farms operates a world-class fishing and hunting operation.

Noontootla Creek History

Without the land owners proactive approach and long term vision of Noontootla Creek’s potential the stream may not have become a world-class trophy trout stream.  The owners of the property started by hiring a fisheries biologist to conduct extensive ncf223brown.jpgaquatic invertebrate counts, water quality tests, and fish counting.  Upon receiving impressive test results from all three categories they commissioned a construction habitat specialist to improve the trout habitat throughout the stream.

The results have completely transformed the two miles of trout stream.  Undercut banks were constructed in many locations to provide over head cover and safety for the trout and natural weirs were built in prime areas to improve oxygen levels.  River banks were strengthened to prevent erosion and the river flow direction was changed in areas to enhance river flow and add additional holding water for trout.  The end product has created one of the top trophy trout fisheries in the United States.

Fly Fishing at Noontootla Creek Farmsncf224rainbow.jpg

In recent years guided fly fishing trips have been added as a recreational activity to the public.  The property offers fly fishermen with over two miles of trophy trout stream to explore with their personal guide.  Although there are many trophy trout streams throughout North Georgia, Noontootla Creek Farms stands alone with its pristine trout habitat and its unique trophy trout fishery.  This stream is unique in the fact that it supports a healthy population of wild rainbow and brown trout.  Although brown trout inhabit the stream year round, a large number of trophy brown trout migrate up from the Toccoa River each year to spawn in Noontootla Creek.  This phenomenon offers fly fishermen good chances at hooking into a brown trout of a lifetime.

The shear beauty and genetics of the trout found at Nootootla Creek Farms can’t be reproduced in most other trophy trout streams.  The trout found here have brilliant bold colors and the fins are full and white tipped.  Unlike most trophy trout streams which almost entirely are comprised of female trout, Noontootla Creek Farms has above average numbers of male trout.  These are the guys that have the hook jaws and striking colors.  On average our guides generally catch one male trout per trip and all of them find there way into a picture frame.  The great thing about this trout stream is that it appeals to all skills levels.  There are plenty of trout in the stream but it’s not considered shooting fish in a barrel like most other trophy trout streams found throughout the area.  Here you’ll find the fish in areas where they would be holding on any wild trout stream and you’ll be challenged to make a well presented cast to fool these behemoths.  Bottom-line, Noontootla Creek is one of the best places to hook into a trophy trout and have your guide transform you into a more competent angler.  Cast and blast options are available at Noontootla Creek Farms upon request.

  • ½ Day one Angler - $230
