Toccoa River Fishing Report

Posted By on April 21, 2010

This report was brought to you by future RJF guide, Erik Hove.  He’s an up and coming trout guide and we very much look forward to him helping us out this summer.  For now he’s been hitting our home waters every chance he gets, and working one on one with us to get him 100% ready to put future RJF clients on the trout.  You’ll be seeing more of Erik Hove in the future on the blog and we’ll let you decide for yourselves about his big talent as a fly fisherman and guide.

I had the opportunity to fish the Toccoa River both Saturday and Sunday last weekend, and we couldn’t have asked for nicer spring weather. The bite was on and it seems the Hendrickson’s are real close to coming out into a full blown hatch. We experienced sporadic hatches, but the fish weren’t quite breaking the surface just yet. Nymphing deep in the mornings was the ticket, and as the day wore on the fishing heated up and the trout seemed to move up a bit toward the surface. Both numbers and size were present over the weekend, and who could ask for more? From here on out should be a great time to come out and fish the Toccoa hatches with us at Reel Job Fishing.  For more information on our guided trips out on the Toccoa River, please feel free to contact us.

P.S. from Kent Klewein – I just got off the river today and it was dynamite trout fishing. We landed some absolutly beautiful trout, both browns and rainbows, of which all were healthy and had full stomachs.  We’ll be posting the pictures and a more thorough fishing report when we get all of the photos from the group.  Sorry, we used all of our cameras today.  Also floating the river again tomorrow so we’ll add those photos in as well.

Keep it Reel,
Capt. Kent Klewein

  1. Great report and it looks like your going to have another great guide in the mix down there. Now if you can keep that North Carolina Mexican off your waters you should be good to go.
