Redington CPX Zip-Front Waders Review

Posted By on August 10, 2010

So you’ve made it through this past season with your current waders, hurray. You’ve probably sat down a few times and tended to some much needed patching as well, and still you find when you get off the stream your still getting wet. Before you know it, it’s going to be fall, and winter’s just around the corner. If I was you I’d start doing some research on the most durable, functional, and economical waders on the market. That way you’ll be ready for this year’s cold season.

Look no further…., I already found the waders of your dreams.

Before I get started on the details, let me tell you what I look for in wader specs these days, ranking from the top.

1. My waders need to be durable, botton-line.

2. Sizing needs to be accurate. I’ve had waders in the past that had an XL body with stockingfoots that my wife could barely fit into.

3. Suspenders need to be functional, no elastic, and easy to secure. Don’t be fooled by the elastic waders on the market that end up getting tangled and flipped around in the components, or even worse, waders that incorporate velcro or clips for the suspenders.

4. Ease of urinating. I know it’s blunt, but the older we get the more we have to go. Look for waders that have a zip-front.  It will save you loads of fishing time. Just make sure the company has a very good watertight seal on the zipper.

5. Some sort of pockets to keep my mitts warm on cold days goes a long way in product satisfaction. I rarely store fly boxes in my waders, but it’s great if the need arises. Having some sort of reasonable storing space in waders for important essentials like your wallet, phone, camera, and floatant is a must.

So there’s what I look for in waders, and right now there’s really only two companies that employ all of these features.

Redington CPX  Zip-Front Waders – $279.95

Simms G4Z Zip-Front Waders – $699.95

These two waders are so close in resemblence you could easily mistake them for each other. They offer just about the same functionality and innovative options, but there’s one big difference between them.

Redington CPX Zip-Front Waders are less than half the cost folks!

I know there’s a lot of you out there that are very brand loyal, and I understand and respect that. However, when you’re staring at practically identical products and your able to save a big wad of cash and get the same quality, sometimes you have to go with what’s practical.

I personally wore the Redington CPX Zip-Front Waders for a week straight in WY this past month, and I’ve been very pleased and fired up about them ever since. Just wanted to pass this information on to my followers looking for a new pair of waders. They’re the most comfortable and functional waders I’ve ever come across.
