Fishing is Heating up

Posted By on March 22, 2012

We’ve been busy lately guiding on Blue Ridge Lake, Lake Lanier and Chatuge. With this unheard of weather the lake temps have already jumped up to 66 and 67 degrees. This is spawning temps and the fish don’t know what to do, because most of the time the lakes don’t hit these temps till the end of April. We’re catching alot of Spotted bass off points and pebble rocky banks where there staging up to spawn. The Largemouth are in the back of pockets swiming around waiting to lock down and spawn. If your looking for some good fishing, give us a call now.

Lake Lanier Magnum Spotted Bass

Posted By on March 8, 2012

There’s know wonder why the Pro’s on the FLW  bass fishing circuit  are coming back to Lanier in August for the Forest Wood Cup Chanpionship. Lake Lanier is producing some of the biggest spotted bass in the nation.  Lake Lanier has 692 miles of shoreline, we fished yesterday and only covered maybe 7 miles of it. We caught 28 spotted bass just fishing Six Mile creek, most the fish came on shaky heads, drop shot and jigs. If your looking to catch some big spotted bass, call us now and book a trip on Lanier

Are you Fishing Drop-Offs Enough?

Posted By on March 7, 2012

Are you fishing drop-offs enough when you’re out trout fishing?

Very often where long stretches of shallow water transition into deeper water it creates a strong magnet for trout. Targeting water downstream of drop-offs can prove to be some of the most consistent trout water for fly anglers year round. To read my full article on Gink & Gasoline click the link below.

Lake Burton is getting Hot!!!

Posted By on February 28, 2012

We got out on Lake Burton yesterday and the lake is down around 7.5 feet and the water temp is 50-51 degrees. But with the nice weather we’ve been having the fish have already started to move up and feed for Pre-spawn. If the weather stays like this, we should have some awesome catches during March and April on all our mountain lakes, exspecially Lake Burton. So call today, our calendar is starting to fill.

Angler Positioning is Critical for Catching Fish

Posted By on February 15, 2012

Below is my latest fly fishing tips post on Gink & Gasoline. It deals with an important aspect of fishing I see lots of my fellow fly fisherman struggling with. Take a few minutes to review it and I think it will help you catch more fish.

  1. Gonna be in the area end of March. How are the smallies especially, and perhaps other fish. I already get plenty of fly fishing for trout where I live in the rockies, and unless it’s really exceptional, I’d kind of like to do something I can’t do here, which is warmer water fish. Whatcha got then in the Blue Ridge Lake area?

  2. Great info. Lucky me I discovered your blog by accident (stumbleupon). I have book-marked it for later!

Blue Ridge Fly Fishing – NCF

Posted By on February 13, 2012

The action is heating up at Noontootla Creek Farms. Rainbows are sporting their spawning colors and clients are catching good numbers of fish. Right now fishing conditions couldn’t be any better for fly fisherman. Water levels are high and the trout haven’t been pressured very little the last couple months. If you want to catch some big beautiful rainbow trout and have a good shot at a big brown trout, now is the time to book your trip. Below are some recent photos at Noontootla Creek Farms.

Carolyn Emery has an outstanding day landing trophy trout at NCF.

Carters Lake (what a day)

Posted By on February 11, 2012

Had a awesome day on Carters Lake today. We landed 38 spotted bass, 1 largemouth bass, and a mack daddy striper that weighed 30.13lbs. The Striper was caught on 7lb Gamma Touch fluorocarbon line. We caught all our bass on jigs and shakey heads. Yes, even the Striper was caught on a 5/16 pb/jig. I just wished we would have got all the fish in that we hooked up on, the fishing was truly on fire. If you like to fish jigs and shakey heads, now is the time to book a trip with us on Carters Lake, and you could catch fish like these.

Awesome Fishing In February

Posted By on February 8, 2012

The fishing this past week has been awesome on Lake Blue Ridge. We fished last friday and caught 55 spotted bass on jigs and shakey heads. I couldn’t stand it, so I had to go back yesterday. Even with the full moon we still cuaght 35 spotted bass and 1 largemouth mostly on tubes and shakey head. If the weather stays mild and we keep getting warm rain, come spring the bass fishing should be great. I’m sorry I didn’t take more pictures but when the fish are biting like this, I’m like a kid in a candy store.
