Smallies Moving Up

Posted By on March 31, 2010

We’ve finally got some consistent warm weather and the smallmouth bass are starting to move up.  With temperatures in the low 50s on most of our lakes the bass are beginning their annual ritual of moving up on points and flats close to their spawning grounds for the pre-spawn.

Yesterday, RJF guide, Eric Welch landed 16 bass, with the best five fish weighing around 18 pounds.  He also took one walleye around three pounds.  The fishing is only going to get better over the next month and we can’t tell everyone how excited we are to spend time on the lake hooking into these awesome bronze backs.  Eric Welch will be on Lake Chatuge today fishing jerkbaits and spinnerbaits for some big largemouth and spotted bass.  The last tournament held on Lake Chatuge took well over twenty pounds to take first prize.

Thursday Eric and I will be fishing Lake Blue Ridge again and we’ll bring you some more smallie photos from our trip. For those of you who still have not taken advantage of our $300 guided full day lake trip special we encourage you to call very soon to book your next spring bass trip.  The $75 discount will be ending April 2nd.

I’ll be chasing trout on the Toccoa River today and hope to see some bugs flying. Fishing report will follow this evening.

Keep it Reel,
