Float-n-Fly Fishing For Trophy Bass

Posted By on October 12, 2011

For you bass fisherman that think when the weather gets cold its time to put the boat and fishing gear in storage, I suggest you do a little research about the float-n-fly rig. We catch some trophy fish in the winter, when the water temperatures reach 65 degrees all the way down to 40 degrees. If you’re looking for a fight, hook into a 4lb smallie or a 5lb spot on a 8′ rod with a 4lb leader. We’re now taking float-n-fly bookings for Carters Lake, Lake Blue Ridge, and Hiawassee Lake.

Pictures don’t lie.

  1. No we are not kidding. The Float N’ Fly rigged on a fly rod with tied fly patterns works great. It’s like nymphing with a super long leader. It’s not your standard fly fishing method but it works awesome on the reservoirs during our colder months of the year. I landed some really big bass last year doing this.
