Fishing on Blue Ridge & Hiawassee
Posted By Kent Klewein on January 26, 2010
Despite the heavy rains and winds we’ve still managed to get out on the lakes quite often lately. Eric Welch has been fishing on both Lake Blue Ridge and Lake Hiawassee. Below are some photos.
This photo is from the last trip I went on to Lake Blue Ridge on Jan 12th. Check out this picture of a nice blueback that I scooped up floating on the surface. During that cold weather we recently had, and the lake freezing, Lake Blue Ridge had a significant shad kill ranging from 1.5″ to 6″. This amount of shad kill hasn’t happened for the past 10 years. This big shad kill will help in two ways. The fish will feed heavily now and when they feed for pre-spawn there will be less food in the lake. That translates into a very good lure bite for the fisherman.
Below are two really nice smallmouth landed by Eric Welch on Lake Hiawassee.
We’re booking bass trips, so jump on board if your interested in catching some nice bass, like the ones featured above. For more information visit our website and click on the Lake Trips Page.
