Toccoa River Trout Stocking

Posted By on August 30, 2011

Everyone needs to give a big thank you to John Damer, GADNR’s fisheries biologist for pulling some strings and negotiating a trout stocking from the Buford hatchery today. We stocked 1800 rainbows this morning by boat and private access. It was a huge success and we hope there will be more of these stockings coordinated down the road for the 2011-2012 fishing seasons. We’ve been talking amongst friends with the idea of creating a trout stocking fund since the GADNR’s budget is stretched pretty thin. Let us know if any of you would be willing to donate to a fund if we set something like this up. Together we could make a big difference.

Also please practice catch and release on the Toccoa River and spread the word with your fellow anglers. The state decided this year to eliminate the budget for stocking the river. This means the river can no longer support a put and take fishing policy like it has in the past.

Keep it Reel,
