Toccoa River Butter – Erik Hove
Posted By Kent Klewein on May 17, 2010
Future Reel Job Fishing guide, Erik Hove has been floating the Toccoa a lot lately in preparation for his upcoming trips this summer with Reel Job Fishing (RJF). He recently landed a very nice brown trout nymphing some prime trout water. Click on the photos for larger views and view Toccoa River fishing report below from Erik Hove.
I have been able to hit the Toccoa River the past couple days, and Monday was one I will not soon forget. We hooked up with this gigantic, wild brown in the morning hours, and needless to say, no matter what else happened that afternoon, I had a big smile on my face. As can be seen by the number of big fish we have been pulling out here at RJF, the river is fishing incredibly if you can hone into what they’re feeding on.
Day to day the best way to fish the river is changing your tactics to the current conditions, and your guides at RJF are constantly on the water keeping up with the trends. Clear evidence of this occured during my last two days out, with Monday fishing great with different nymphing techniques and rigs, while Tuesday was full of great dry fly sulpher action during which the fish would not even touch a deep nymph rig. Patience and a willingness to adapt are key fishing traits to develop.
Thanks for checking out the blog and until next time,
