October Fly Fishing Report

Posted By on October 30, 2013

The air temperature has been really mild so far this fall and the water levels are perfect,  a welcome sight after all the high water this spring and summer.  It’s been a banner year for rainfall and low temps and, while this has kept the trout nice and healthy, it left me really yearning for some lower water sight fishing.  There is simply no better reward in a guides life than spotting a trophy fish for a client, coaching him to the perfect presentation and, seeing the smile on his or her face when you turn around with that fish in the net.  That time is here!

In other news, Kent and I recently had Carl, Dan and, Jeremy at NCF for their annual trout fishing getaway.  It had rained all night and the water was heavily stained upon arrival but, that didn’t matter to these guys, they were ready to get their fish on.  We started the day with big flashy streamers and were into some nice trout pretty quick.  As the day moved along the stream started to clear and by lunch time it was a different fishery.  The remainder of the day was spent fishing tiny bugs to spooky trout and these guys stepped up to the plate and scored a few more big fish to finish out the afternoon.  Looking forward to seeing you fellas next year!

Give us a call to take advantage of the last of the mild days, it’ll be cold soon!

Tight lines,
