Giant Toccoa Bow on Dry
Posted By Kent Klewein on May 12, 2010
Just wrapped up guiding Neil Harrington for two days, and all I can say is, he has some bragging rights when he gets home. Yesterday, he landed a killer wild brown trout that taped 22 3/4″ at Noontootla Creek Farms. Check it out below. Click on Photos for Larger Views.
Neil is getting up there in age, and because of wading constraints, we were only able to fish a handful of spots at NCF. However, his passion for fly fishing is still sky high like he just got into the sport, and his persistence paid big royalties not only at NCF but also on the Toccoa River.
This taped 24″ beast of a rainbow came up and devoured a dry fly. The coolest part about this is that Neil landed it on 6x tippet with a 1-weight fly rod. We were having a ball earlier in the day catching 10-12″ trout on dries when this guy caught us by total surprise. The battle lasted about 15 minutes with me constantly rowing up and down the river blocking log jams while Neil’s arms turned to jello. The Lord willing, we managed to move the fish into shallow water and net the huge rainbow.
Neil did not wear waders or boots today, and he asked me to hop-in to get a couple really nice photos of the rainbow and revive it for the release. This has to be the biggest trout I’ve ever seen anyone land on a 1-weight rod with 6x tippet. It was a sight to see, just wish I would have had my new video camera to film the action. Two days of fishing and two true trophies of a lifetime for Neil, not bad.

What are the best spots to go fishing on the east coast?
The two days I spent fishing with Kent were the most enjoyable I ever had.Kent is not only the most knowledgable and professional guide, but a very caring individual. He has my sincere thanks, not only for putting me in great spots to catch trout of a life time, but being a fine freind. Neil P.S. this makes 3 times with Kent and I cant wait for the next trip.
