Fly Fishing Georgia
Posted By Kent Klewein on March 24, 2010
It was a guide’s day out on the Toccoa River the other day fly fishing in North Georgia. Despite the unfavorable generations schedules RJF guides, Brad Wayne and Julian Byrd, and buddy John slid the drift boat in for an afternoon float.
The day started out with a few fish taken with dries but quickly turned into a streamer and nymphing day out on the Toccoa River. The fishing report was a good one and the guides got into quite a few fish, including this nice 20-inch rainbow trout towards the end of the float. It was taken in a riffle that has not been producing lately and it was a welcome site to see that a big fish like this one, had moved up into this prime fish habitat. Looks like the trout are starting to move up high in the riffles to pick off the emerging bugs and active nymphs. That means are hatches should start to increase and the trout will start looking towards the surface more. The warm weather this week is going to do wonders for the fishing and bug activity.
