Big Bows at NCF

Posted By on April 14, 2011

This past week I was fortunate enough to spend another day on the water guiding Bob Davidson at Noontootla Creek Farms. Bob’s a great guy that enjoys each day on the water to the fullest. It was a big fish day, unfortunately most of the big fish managed to break us off or spit the hook before we could get them in. We lost two rainbows in the twenty-four inch class that unbuttoned and one twenty-plus that made a screaming run upstream and wrapped around a boulder breaking the tippet.

This beautiful rainbow above was taken on a streamer. Five minutes before we had a rainbow that I estimated at 27-28″ inhale and spit our streamer before we could set the hook. It made this rainbow trout above look small. Man I wish we would have got that trophy. I’m sure we’ll get that giant down the road shortly, especially when the terrestrial fishing starts, but It still kills me to be so close and come up empty handed.

This week my calendar is clear, and I’ve been taking advantage of it spending quality time with my wife and baby boy. Next week Cari will be going back to work and I’ll be busy guiding on the Toccoa River and at Noontootla Creek Farms. Head Bass Guide, Eric Welch will also be on vacation with his family starting this coming Sunday for spring break, and will return for guide trips on  April 22nd.

Keep it Reel,
