Big Winter Spots

Posted By Kent Klewein on December 17, 2009

We’ve been running guided bass trips on Carters Lake and were getting into big spotted bass.  Water levels are 4.5feet below full pull and water temperatures are hovering around 50-51 degrees.  Reel Job Fishing guide, Eric Welch says the bite has been starting around 10am and fishing strong into the late afternoon.  Break out your bibs and lets hit the lake to take advantage of the great fishing.  We love this time of year because we have the lake to ourselves.  Its really nice not having the ski boats and other heavy boat traffic on the lake.  The bass are feeding up for winter and have already put on substantial weight.  They’re fighting hard and a blast to catch.

The water temperature is between 51-52 degrees right now and the smallies are biting good.  We’re getting very close to the magic water temperature and we can’t wait to target the trophies with our fly rods and special conventional rigs.  Now is the time to book your trip so you don’t miss the hot action.  For more information about our bass trips on Lake Blue Ridge click the link.
