Fishing is Picking up at NCF
Posted By Kent Klewein on November 6, 2009
Well, I was supposed to have a full day out at Noontootla Creek Farms today but it got shortened to a half day at the last moment. My client had a buddy get together planned for this weekend, and his buddies decided to show up early. As much as I wanted to spend a full day out there, we had to fish a quick four hours to keep my client on schedule and his buddies happy.
The fishing is starting to really pick up at the farm. They’ve seemed kind of picky lately but it could just be me still spoiled from all of the unbelievable dry fly fishing I’ve experienced for the past 5 months out at NCF. There is a good chance I might be missing the giant trout gulping my foam creations on the surface…, let me think, yes I am.
We got out at the farm around 9:00am and hit the water. It was a bit chilly this morning with the temperature gauge reading 28 degrees. The hot fly was a fox squirrel nymph and we managed to land 8 this morning. We also had about four others on but they unbuttoned or broke off shortly after the fights started. All in all it wasn’t a bad half day out at the farm. I’m really looking forward to seeing how many browns we hook and land over the next couple of months. With the river levels above normal I’m thinking there’s going to be quite a few browns in the stream moving up to spawn.
If your interested in booking a fly fishing trip out at Noontootla Creek Farms give me a call or shoot me an email. I’ll do my best to fit you in. Bird hunting season has started out at the farm and will call for anglers booking their trips further in advance to ensure they can get on NCF.
