Reel Job Fishing guide, Eric Welch has been busy hitting the lakes in North Georgia, capitalizing on the fast paced spring bass fishing.  The bite is HOT, and Eric has been landing some unbelievable stringers of bass!  Last weekend he boated a five bass limit weighing 30 pounds.  As always, Eric practiced catch and release, [...]

More than ever before, numbers of trout fishermen are at there highest levels on our home waters.  Only on rare occasions, do we find ourselves alone in solitude.  Fishing pressure is up and now is the time to have conservation in mind for our favorite honey holes.
I try to educate all my clients on how [...]

“What are the trout eating”, the client asked?

This is totally for real.  I witnessed it myself and yes, he did get a bug sample.  Mostly Caddis Pupa, which supposedly taste like crap   That did not surprise me since it was being sucked out the tail pipe.

Had a great time guiding Rachel & Jamie Hillis on Saturday, which always makes for great memories.  Fishing was absolutely off the chain at Noontootla Creek Farms.  We hooked up with twenty or more fish for the day and landed some giants.  The best part of the trip was having Louis Cahill along shooting all [...]

“Everything inside for the outside”
The other day I had the pleasure of checking out a very cool Fly Shop/Extreme Outfitter in Murphy, NC.  Appalachian Outfitters has apparently been around for a couple years, but until now, I had no idea of its existence.  As I walked in the front door I was blown away by [...]

Reel Job Fishing (RJF) guide, Brad Wayne hit the Toccoa River in his Hyde this past weekend with clients Wayne and Jimmy Simmons.  The constant rain didn’t bother these three hardcore fishermen, and the day’s trout fishing couldn’t have gone any better.
Many trout were landed during the day including several nice sized rainbow and brown [...]

Spring Bass Fishing in GA

burton_welch

Spring bass fishing in GA is here.  Water temperatures are rising and so are the bass metabolisms.  Our winter finesse fishing tactics are starting to change over to spring power fishing and we can’t be any happier.  Nothing is more exciting than ripping baits down a bank and getting your arm jerked off by a [...]

froghair

Over the past several years I’ve used just about every brand of fluorocarbon tippet guiding.  I’ve never enjoyed paying the premium price, but I have found the best bang for my buck.  Frog Hair Flourocarbon tippet is all I use these days because it flat-out outperforms all other brands.  The small diameter to pound test [...]

Do you ever have problems with your leader twisting up badly when streamer or popper fishing?  I’ve started using really small barrel swivels to eliminate this problem.  They work excellent.  My favorite model is the 10/0 Tsunami Nickel Barrel Swivel for its small size, strength, and durability.
For my streamer fishing I tie a 3-4 inch [...]
